WGC Leadership Academy
Here is a letter from our Academy Captain Katie Forrest.
Dear Gymnast,
We are setting up a Leadership Academy for young people who are interested in becoming a coach. A leadership academy is a group of young people aged 11+ who want to develop their leadership skills. To be a young leader, you must be able to dedicate at least 4 hours a week helping out some of the coaches with their groups. The academy will help you to identify your strengths within the sport.
As part of the Young leaders group, you will be given the opportunity to go on different courses to develop the skills you need to be a

successful coach. The courses will be decided during meetings that will be held every month or every two months. Also, you may get the chance to be a runner at national competitions like Challenge Cup.
From joining the Leadership Academy, you will benefit in many different ways. You will develop better teamwork and leadership skills, as well as taking responsibility for supporting young gymnasts. The role of a young leader means that you will need to act as a role model, especially to the younger gymnasts who will no doubt look up to you. In addition to this, being a young leader and learning to be a coach will help you in the future when you write your C.V. and apply for a job. As captain of the young leaders, I am responsible for organising the meetings and ensuring that we keep on track with our development.
If you are interested in being a young leader, please drop me an email at leadership@warringtongymnastics.co.uk and I will get some information out to you as soon as possible.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Katie Forrest,
WGC Leadership Academy Captain.
